Grab the remote in your right hand so it is upside down, your palm over the buttons, with the “power” button facing towards your elbow. ( Your index finger should now be on the line on the right side of the remote.  Your right thumb should now be on the smooth side of the remote.)  Gently push your thumb so you're pushing the smooth battery plate off of the remote, gently kneading towards the bottom.
